Iceland-China: FTA. (By Sylodium, global import export directory).

China and Iceland have signed last week a free trade agreement  boosting China’s presence in an Arctic region, where  all world powers are looking at for new shipping routes, minerals and oil.

Tariffs between both countries will be abolished.

Iceland with 320,000 people and China with 1.2 billion inhabitants.

the deal, in one side,  may boost Iceland recovering from a 2008 economic crash, in the other side, is a symbolic push by China into the Arctic.

The Arctic has big reserves of oil, gas, gold, diamonds, zinc and iron. And with warming  polar ice, it may offer new shipping routes, and naval interests.

Greenland (Denmark) is also in the focus of China.
