Singapore-based clean energy Armstrong Asset Management announced that its $150 million South East Asia Clean Energy Fund has signed its first solar deal, agreeing to a strategic cooperation with Thai solar developer Symbior Solar Siam, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based energy company Symbior Energy. Armstrong will acquire a 60% share of a 30 MW PV portfolio Symbior Solar is developing in Thailand. The portfolio consists of six PV power plants located in central and northeast Thailand. One of the six projects, a 1 MW solar park in northeast Thailand, is already operational, while the remaining five projects are in late-stage development. The South East Asia Clean Energy Fund closed a $65 million investment round in August 2012. The fund is scheduled for final close in August of this year. The 10-year fund will invest primarily in small-scale solar, hydro and wind power projects in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
